Successful ESG transformation: Wealthcore and Hilton achieve BREEAM certification for Hilton Vienna Park
- Hilton Vienna Park receives BREEAM certification for high standards of energy efficiency, resource conservation and environmental sustainability
- The 663-room conference hotel is an example of sustainable management by continuously monitoring and adjusting its consumption data
Munich/Vienna, November 21, 2024: The Hilton Vienna Park, one of the largest conference hotels in Europe, wants to position itself as a pioneer in sustainable hotel management. The hotel with its more than 660 rooms wants to offer its guests a comfortable stay that is demonstrably environmentally and socially responsible. The Munich-based investment manager Wealthcore and the global hotel operator Hilton have joined forces for this comprehensive ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) transformation. For its commitment, the hotel has now received BREEAM certification, a rigorous and thorough environmental assessment for real estate and operational management.
"The real force driving the sustainable operation of the Hilton Park Vienna lies in the property itself and in its management," says Manuel Bugl, Managing Director of Wealthcore Investment Management. "In the hotel industry, customer interest in sustainable and environmentally conscious stays has increased significantly. The growing preference for ESG-compliant properties among investors and operators also increases the value of the property and has a positive impact on society and the environment."
The Hilton Vienna Park proves that maximum comfort and sustainability are not mutually exclusive, but complementary. The complex was awarded an "Excellent" rating in the BREEAM certification (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), which is considered one of the strictest and most comprehensive environmental assessment methods for real estate. BREEAM assesses various facets of building design and management - including energy efficiency, water consumption, material selection, waste management, ecological impact and the well-being of hotel guests. The BREEAM award underlines compliance with high standards for energy efficiency, resource conservation and environmental compatibility.
"In the hotel industry, where minimizing energy consumption and local environmental impact is crucial, BREEAM certification is an important milestone. The award is a testament to exemplary sustainability practices. We are committed to continuous improvement and are working closely with our hotel teams to achieve the highest 'Outstanding' rating in the near future," explains Bugl.
The path to greater sustainability leads through scientifically sound goals. These are an integral part of the ESG transformation at Hilton Vienna Park. The sustainability targets are achieved and managed by LightStay, Hilton's award-winning ESG performance measurement and management system. LightStay carefully monitors and analyzes consumption data at Hilton Vienna Park. The comparison of actual and target consumption data identifies deviations at an early stage, allowing the company to respond in good time with appropriate sustainability measures. This transparent reporting is a key component in the tracking and management of sustainability targets.
Hilton Vienna Park's ESG transformation is in line with Hilton's global ESG strategy, Travel with Purpose, a commitment to responsible travel and sustainable tourism worldwide. As part of this initiative, Hilton is working diligently to create positive environmental and social impact in its operations, supply chain and the communities in which it operates.
Wealthcore acts as asset manager and owner's representative for the South Korean investor Mastern Investment Management, which acquired the Hilton Vienna Park in 2019. Following the acquisition, Wealthcore completed the renovation of the hotel on time and on budget (despite the Covid pandemic) during ongoing hotel operations. The revitalized hotel now offers 663 rooms and suites on 15 floors, a modern conference and event center with over 20 meeting rooms and two ballrooms as well as a new executive lounge with terrace.
